Due to COVID-19, the Volunteer Center is not able to gather people of all ages and abilities in person this year for its annual MLK Day of Service. However, in partnership with HEROS – Healing Everyday Racism in Our Schools – the Volunteer Center invites you to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King by participating in an educational and thought-provoking virtual workshop HEROS has organized that focuses on Dr. King’s 1965 speech in Winnetka and the concrete steps we can take locally to create Dr. King’s “Beloved Community”. This event is intended for adults, parents and teens and features enlightening topics. Registration in advance is required. For more details and registration, click on “Continue Reading” below.
ViewThe coronavirus has made this an unusual holiday season, and is challenging local nonprofits in new ways. But their mission is more important than ever, especially during the holidays, and many of our nonprofit partners are in need of volunteers. We will post holiday opportunities as they come to us, so check this page regularly. We also encourage you to search through our list of nonprofits, and if you find an organization that you would like to support you can also contact them directly through our website to let them know you’re interested in volunteering. Wishing all volunteers a safe, healthy and happy holiday season!
