GOT STUFF? Get Ready to Make A Difference!

The Volunteer Center (VC) will sponsor its 10th annual Make A Difference Day on Saturday, October 27nd from 9 am-12 pm at the Indian Hill Train Station in Winnetka.  This year, representatives from 17 nonprofits will be on hand to collect much-needed items.

Items being collected for this community-wide event include: outerwear; shoes and boots; school supplies; sheets and blankets (full/twin) and pillows; games, toys and books; cleaning supplies and paper goods; laundry detergent; toiletries; baby formula and diapers; non-perishable food; garden tools; dog and cat food and supplies; sports equipment; men’s clothing and shoes; eyeglasses and cases; bicycles; Halloween costumes; and small furniture and lamps.

In these difficult economic times, the need is greater than ever.  So please take this opportunity to clean out your closets or add a few extra items to your shopping cart. You can collect items as an individual, family, group or neighborhood.  And it couldn’t be easier!  Volunteers will be waiting to unload your car and get your donations to the appropriate agency.

Recipient nonprofits include:  ChildServ, Connections for the Homeless, Evanston School Children’s Clothing Association, Glencoe Community Garden, Hadley School for the Blind, INFANT, Inc., Infant Welfare Society of Evanston, New Trier Township Food Pantry, Orphans of the Storm, Refugee One, Salvation Army, Winnetka Youth Organization, Working Bikes, World Relief of Chicago, and YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago.
