Help our small but impactful social service nonprofit by volunteering as bookkeeper for The Volunteer Center (VC) Board of Directors. The bookkeeper role is mostly required Sept–June, can primarily be handled remotely, and has a flexible schedule. Occasional in-person meetings may be required, so the volunteer should live in the N.E. Metro Chicago (includes city and northeast suburban areas).
The Volunteer Center was founded in 1960 and is a successful volunteer referral organization that has 2 part-time staff and a volunteer board that serves the northeast metropolitan Chicago area. The VC refers potential volunteers and service groups with over 165 nonprofit partner organizations to help them achieve their missions. The diverse causes of the nonprofit partners support people of all ages, abilities and needs. The VC hosts multiple community service days to help thousands in critical need. The VC operates on a cash-basis accounting system. Visit VolunteerCenterHelps.org for additional info about the VC.
The bookkeeper maintains the board’s financial transactions under the approval and guidance of the VC Executive Committee and Executive Director. Responsibilities also include:
