An Engaged Group of Nonprofits Participated in a Thought-Provoking Workshop on the Challenges of Recruiting and Retaining Volunteers Over Lunch at the Winnetka Community House
Recruiting and retaining great volunteers is a challenge for all Nonprofits today. This lively discussion was a terrific opportunity to learn some current best practices for finding, training, and retaining valuable volunteers. The conversation was lead by Volunteer Center Executive Director Barb Tubekis, Tricia Luzadder of JJ’s List/Search, Inc., and Ann Healing of Breakthrough. In addition to discussing how to maximize the productivity of volunteers — and how to turn them into community PR machines — attendees also learned about the benefits of utilizing individuals with disabilities in their volunteer programs. This was just one of the Nonprofit Workshops we hosted last year — but watch this website for announcements of our 2018-2019 schedule of Workshops and Networking Events, coming this Fall.
60 Nonprofits Attended Our Recent “Meet Your Press” Panel Discussion on March 21st — and Left With Some Great Ideas
Nonprofits looking for new ways to get noticed by the press came together at our 2018 “Meet Your Press” continental breakfast and panel discussion. This interactive discussion was lead by local news professionals from N.E. Metro Chicago print and digital, daily and weekly papers, magazines and social media outlets. Attendees received tips for writing effective press releases, pitching a story, getting your story noticed and the kind of content each media is most interested in. It was a “can’t miss” opportunity to talk to the press — and to network with other local Nonprofits. VC Hosts a Successful Training and Networking Event for Nonprofit Partners and Supporters
The Volunteer Center was proud to host a stellar group of Nonprofit Executive Directors and Board Officers at a thought-provoking and informative Board Development/Recruitment Training Program, presented by Executive Service Corps Professionals Mike Christ and Michael A. Snipes, on June 10th at Avli Estiatorio in Winnetka. Attendees enjoyed a lively discussion about some of the biggest challenges facing nonprofits today and shared ideas — while they sampled exceptionally delicious menu items from Avli’s new cafe, Avli Rotisserie.
