About Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence

Founded in 1974, Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence (ICHV) has worked to reduce death and injury caused by guns in Illinois and nationwide. We accomplish our goals by: educating the public about the epidemic of gun violence; serving as a clearinghouse for information on gun violence issues; working with a variety of groups to bring in different perspectives; and translating public opinion into public policy by mobilizing people to take action.
The Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence (ICHV) is the oldest and most active statewide organization in the country dedicated solely to reducing death and injury related to gun violence.
