The Mission of The Volunteer Center is to promote volunteerism, support nonprofit organizations, and engage people in meaningful volunteer service in the communities we serve.

Volunteers:  The Volunteer Center (VC) works with over 160 nonprofit organizations to help individuals, families, and service groups find ways to volunteer their time and help others in the community. The VC also help groups develop and implement effective service learning programs in schools, faith-based organizations, businesses and civic groups, and sponsor community Days of Service.

Nonprofits:  The VC hosts nonprofit training and networking events throughout the year that are designed to help our nonprofit partners achieve their missions and serve the needs of their communities with effective volunteers.

The operations of the Volunteer Center are supported by an energetic board of directors. This is a working board that is committed to volunteerism, service and making a difference in our community — a fulfilling experience!

The primary work of the board involves our Days of Service throughout the year that provide community-building opportunities to volunteer as an individual or with family, friends and service groups.  Board members also assist our various committees and help us with our annual fundraising efforts.

We enjoy a spirited camaraderie and act as liaisons in the community to encourage volunteerism. The Board seeks to have representatives in the New Trier Township and the surrounding N.E. Metro Chicago area.

We are always looking for anyone who simply has a passion for service and a willingness to help. We do have specific needs for those who have any of the following skills:

  • graphic design experience
  • communications – social media rep
  • marketing & public relations
  • program development/management
  • finance and accounting/treasurer duties
