The Pitch In after-school mentoring program is a volunteer-based group mentoring program based in the North Lawndale neighborhood. It offers unique learning experiences and opportunities for personal growth to students in 4th through 8th grades.
Understanding that consistency is one of the keys to successfully engaging with our students we ask for a minimum commitment of 1 school year (Oct-June) from each of our volunteer mentors. However, many of our mentors return year over year and thus have been able to stay with their mentees over multiple years.
Each class meets in the late afternoon (after school) one day a week. Ideally, mentors are able to commit to coming weekly but every other week is also an option. We can pair mentors based on their availability.
No special skills or background is required. Our mentors only need to be willing to engage and inspire our students by participating fully to become a role model by sharing their own passions, knowledge, and interests and to have fun!
