Service group possibilities — please contact for additional information

We do not have specific volunteer roles at our headquarters in Winnetka at this time but we are always excited to hear how people from the community believe they might be of service. We do have a Woman\’s Board, a service group for young professionals in their 20s called Young Visionaries, and a Teen Board. These groups raise charitable donations for Hadley through events and activities. Please contact Joe Flint at (847) 784-2765 to learn more about either of these groups. Thank you!

Sleds Are Coming GLASA Falcons Sled Hockey Exhibition Game

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Sleds Are Coming GLASA Falcons Sled Hockey Exhibition Game at Lake Forest College! Just as in ice hockey, sled hockey is played with six players (including a goalie) at a time. Sled hockey follows most of the typical ice hockey rules with the exception some of the equipment. Players propel themselves on their sledge (specially designed sleds that sit on top of two hockey skate blades) by use of spikes on the ends of two three-foot-long sticks, enabling a player to push himself as well as shoot and pass ambidextrously. Rinks and goals are regulation Olympic-size, and games consist of three 15-minute stop-time periods.

Location: Lake Forest College Sports and Recreation Center (S Campus, Lake Forest, IL 60045) The game wil be held February 5th, 2023, and the game will be from 2-3:30pm

Volunteering at the Schmidt-Burnham Log House

Have you ever wondered what it was like to live in the 1800s? Do you like games and lively conversation? Are you interested in the history of the North Shore?

If one or all of your answers to these questions are yes, then we have an exciting opportunity for you! The Winnetka Historical Society is currently looking for volunteers to facilitate visitor experiences at the Schmidt-Burnham Log House on Sundays from 1:30-4:30, May 1 through November 20, 2022. Volunteering every Sunday is not required, but signing up for a set number of Sundays per month is preferable.

The Log House has a wonderful, rich history that requires enthusiastic docents/facilitators to share it with the public. In addition to telling visitors about the Log House’s history, there are also games and a scavenger hunt that create a great family experience.
