HELP US COMMEMORATE OUR COUNTRY’S HEROES:

Tuesday, September 11, 2012 is the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on our country. The Volunteer Center would like you to please honor our heroes wherever you live, by stopping by your local police and fire stations and thanking them for their services. Gather your family and friends and make a card, make a sign, bake some cookies, or just say thanks.

Volunteers of All Ages Honor Dr. Martin Luther King With Remote Service Projects

2022 MLK DAY OF SERVICE : Due to the recent rise in COVID cases, The Volunteer Center (VC) offered this year’s MLK Day of Service volunteers remote project kits to finish at home and bring back to the VC for delivery to local nonprofits. The volunteer community responded with overwhelming generosity, and made 164 blankets and hundreds of other meaningful goods for the struggling clients of many supportive organizations. Thanks to everyone who helped make our 13th annual Make A Difference Day a Huge Success!

In spite of the weather, on Saturday, October 24th cars lined up in Winnetka to donate everything from clothes to sporting goods to pet supplies. And 14 grateful nonprofits left with full trucks. Thanks to all of the generous donors who came out in the rain — and to the army of volunteers who stood in the rain and helped unload, sort and organize the bounty of donations. It was a great day.

Hundreds of Dedicated Volunteers Helped Feed 100,000 Starving People in Nicaragua at Kids Against Hunger 2017

The Volunteer Center, The Winnetka-Northfield Rotary, and the Winnetka Community House welcomed hundreds of volunteers who helped pack 100,000 nutritious meals for hungry children in Nicaragua on Saturday, March 11th from at the Winnetka Community House. This is always a great group or family service project — and a fun way to come together in service to people in desperate need. This year was no exception. Thanks to all who participated, and to the Winnetka Community House for hosting!
